B-ALL Involving Lymph Node

Lessons From the Friday Unknowns

Histologic sections lymph node show complete replacement by lymphoma.

The neoplasm has a diffuse pattern and is composed of small to intermediate-size lymphoid cells with immature chromatin. Mitotic figures are identified. We have reviewed immunohistochemical studies performed elsewhere on the lymph node specimen.

The lymphoma cells are positive for CD34 (strong), CD79a, PAX–5 and TdT.
Flow cytometry immunophenotypic analysis showed an abnormal B-cell population positive for CD10 (bright), CD19, CD20 (partial), CD22 and CD34.
