Immunodefficiency-Related Burkitt Lymphoma, EBV+

--

Lessons From the Friday Unknowns

Histologic sections show needle-shaped fragments of lymphoma with large areas of coagulative necrosis. No evidence of lymph node is identified although complete replacement of lymph node by lymphoma cannot be excluded. The neoplasm has a well developed starry sky pattern and the neoplastic cells are predominantly intermediate-size and monomorphous. Mitotic figures are easily identified.
