Low Grade B-Cell Lymphoma with Plasmacytic Differentiation
Lesson From the Friday Unknowns
Histologic sections show lymph node with a relatively preserved architecture with open sinuses. The paracortex is composed of a relatively monomorphic lymphoid population of small lymphoid cells. Occasional small reactive germinal centers are seen some of which seem to be colonized. Large cell transformation is not seen.
Flow cytometry shows an aberrant B cell population representing 11% of all events. The aberrant B cells are positive for CD19, CD22 (dim), CD20, CD5 (partial), CD43 (partial) and ROR1 and are negative for CD3, CD10 and kappa and lambda light chains. This population is consistent with marginal zone lymphoma.
